How do I register a Raven website account?

Accepted Answer

If you are having some difficulties registering an account with our website, follow the steps below.

For Professional Users

For desktop devices: Click on Login/Register at the top-right corner of the screen.
For mobile devices: Open the menu and select Login/Register at the bottom of the list.
Register an account by clicking 'Create an Account' at the bottom of the screen.
Select Professional, and then choose what best describes your occupation.
Complete the required fields and select 'I require access to CAD files' if desired.
Choose a password and select 'Create Account' to finish.
Once completed, you will receive an email to verify your account. Use the link in the email to verify and login to your account.

Note: If you selected CAD access, our team will manually review your request. Once approved, you will be notified by email.

For Home Owners

Where can I buy Raven products?

Where can I buy Raven replacement parts?

Accepted Answer

Some parts like gaskets etc are available from the stockist doorseal.com.au.

Refer to the Raven website product descriptions to confirm which spare components can be purchased as a ‘Replacement part’.

What colours/finishes are available in the Raven range of products?

Accepted Answer

There are a variety of colours available to choose from within the Consumer DIY & Professional Architectural range as specified with each RP model, they may include.

Aluminium anodise colours

Satin clear (silver), bronze and matt black.
*While great care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the colours above, they may not match the actual product finishes due to variations in digital displays and print production.
Note: Raven also offers a ‘painting’ service for commercial architectural ranges only. An additional cost and lead time applies. Polyester Enamel (P.E. Paint) finish can be colour matched to virtually any colour sample for all aluminium extrusion components. The paint process is a two-pack polyester enamel which outperforms most finishes including powder coating in the critical areas of colour choice, durability, flexibility, and hardness. Contact your nearest distributor or stockist for further details.

What is a door set size?

Raven’s Professional ‘Architectural range of products’ are available in stock lengths and standard door set sizes. (Note. Some rigid perimeter seals are pre-cut to suit standard door sizes).

Question 6

What materials are Raven products manufactured from?

Raven products are manufactured from the highest grade of materials to ensure product longevity, fitness for purpose and customer satisfaction. Many of Raven’s products consist of two parts; either aluminium or rigid polymer extrusions (body) combined with a flexible gasket seal or nylon brush (insert). Many products feature a cover strip to conceal the screws after fixing.

Aluminium Component extrusions

Raven products only use commercial shopfront grade aluminium alloy - 6060, 6061 or 6063 with a T5 or T6 temper.
An anodising process is applied to all our aluminium profiles. Anodising is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, hard anodic oxide finish. Raven offer two (2) grades of anodising – 15μm for Door Bottom seals and perimeter seals and 25μm for all Aluminium Threshold plates and Threshold plate ramps.
Popular anodised aluminium Colours include - Satin clear (silver), Satin Bronze and Satin Black.

Plastic Components

Raven seals are made from proprietary grade elastomer materials with added UV inhibitors for maximum performance and exposure to the harsh Australian sun. Some material grades include:

All Polypropylene (PP) include UV inhibitors.
All Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) extrusions can withstand the rigours of compression, heat, cold, water, ozone, UV light, abrasion, and ageing. With exceptional memory (meaning they will resume their original shape even after long periods of compression), they are classified to self-extinguishing / burn rate as per SAE J 369, ISO as indicated and have a service temperature of -40°C to 70°C.
Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) has similar performance characteristics of EPDM. All TPE components include UV inhibitors and a flammability index ≤5 where indicated. TPE has a service temperature of -40°C to 100°C.

Nylon / Flexible PVC or Silicone (Rubber) Components (Seals)

Only the highest grades are used for Raven sweep seals and brush seals.

Nylon brush seal filaments include UV inhibitors and are self-extinguishing and conforms to NCC Spec. C3.4, “Smoke Doors 200°C for 30 minutes”. Flammability index of 1. where indicated.
Rigid or flexible PVC - Raven proprietary PVC, flexible and rigid extrusions have UV inhibitors, are self-extinguishing where indicated and have a service temperature of -5°C to 70°C.
Silicon rubber include UV inhibitors and withstands very high temperatures conforming to NCC Spec. C3.4, “Smoke Doors 200°C for 30 minutes”. They are self-extinguishing with a flammability index of 1, where indicated with a service temperature of -60°C to 230°C.

Packaging

Raven Door Seals is committed to reducing its environmental footprint by utilizing recycled materials wherever possible, in order to lessen its impact on the environment and promote sustainable practices.

All cardboard and plastic may be disposed of using approved recycling locations in each state.

Question 7

What is Raven’s product warranty?

Raven products are guaranteed for 2 years against defects in materials and workmanship, provided seals are fitted in accordance with Raven specifications and instructions.

Defective goods identified by Raven may be replaced. However, NO claim for work done thereon or damage incurred will be allowed.

Products featuring Self-adhesive tape.

Where can I access CAD data files?

Detailed drawings and specifications of all Raven products are available to ‘approved’ registered users that use and specify Raven. Please login or register to create a user profile in order to access these files.

Keep in mind that after you have registered and received confirmation of your application, it may take up to 48 hours for our administration team to authorise approval. You will receive an email confirming your approval.
Once approved, you can login onto our website and access CAD files within individual product pages.
Should you require a Product Specification of a Raven product (RP) or Raven Sealing system (RSS), you can select your choice within each product page under the label ‘RESOURCES’, and by selecting ‘Download the Specification Print-out’.

Question 9

Are Raven products (door and window seals) easy to install?

Accepted Answer

Most of the Raven door and window seals are easy to install especially when following the step-by-step instructions which are included with every product.

DIY products include instructions on the back of the packaging (as below). These are also available under the product Resources sections.

Whereas Architectural products have instructions included within the packaging attached to the screw bags. These are also available under the product Resources sections.

Some of the tools you may require for some seals installations may include the following.

Hacksaw or compound mitre saw
Philips screwdriver
Tape measure or ruler
Hand file
Drill with drill bits
Clean cloth
Etc.

Question 10

Can I mix and match seals from different sealing systems for my application?

Accepted Answer

Raven has the largest range of tested sealing systems available. Raven recommends its tested sealing systems. Any deviation from this is considered a “user determined” solution.

Question 11

What is the difference between fire rated seals and BAL rated seals?

Accepted Answer

A sealing system appropriate for Fire Rated (labelled) doors are those with seals approved for use with Fire door assemblies in compliance with AS 1530.4. Our Smoke Sealing Systems for Fire Rated (labelled) Doors can also be found here.

BAL rated seals as indicated can be used in designated Bushfire Zone Areas when used in accordance with AS 3959.

What is the appropriate Acoustic Rw rating I should look to achieve for my project?

Question 13

Are any of your seals antimicrobial?

Accepted Answer

Raven provides an extensive range of antimicrobial seals. Raven gaskets and cover strips contain antimicrobial compounds. They are tested against E. Coli, Strep and MRSA.

These Raven easy-wipe-down designs have gaskets and polymer cover strips that contain a nanotech antimicrobial additive. These unique features, together with regular cleaning practices offer the best protection against surface bacteria around sealed doorways.

Question 14

Can Raven seals be used for other applications including Electrical Switchboards?

Accepted Answer

Consider; RP71/71Si, RP74F, RP120 & RP150. Check and measure around the perimeter of your switchboard housing to ensure our products will be suitable.

Depending on the enclosure design, you could also consider RP510 if you rout a groove to suit.

Question 15

How do I request a test report of Raven products?

Accepted Answer

Raven do NOT provide test reports as they are bound strictly by copyright. We can offer a ‘Certificate of Test Evidence’ for our sealing systems or a ‘Fitness for Purpose’ certificate for each product.

The ABCB ‘Evidence of Suitability’ Handbook 2022 outlines methods of verifying compliance to the NCC. Compliance with the Performance Requirements achieved by using one of the following six (6) options.

Raven Products can supply a report for qualified enquiries from a NATA Accredited Testing Laboratory. International Door and Window Laboratories (IDWL). Documentary evidence for a Raven sealing system is a ‘Certificate of Test Evidence’ it is based on Australian and Internationally recognised laboratory test results and or other recognised testing organisations.

Test evidence certificates are only available for Raven specified products in named projects. Raven seals specified must be installed in accordance with the approval standards stated in accordance with the NCC. They must be the same combination of Raven seals to form a complete “tested sealing system” as published by Raven. Test evidence certificates are not available for competitor brand name seals used with Raven.

When Raven seals are used individually in a user determined application, only a “fitness for purpose” certificate will be issued.

NOTE: laboratory issued test evidence documents cannot be used by engineers or surveyors for other projects or where product substitution has occurred or is intended. Any Brand substitution voids the documents issued and NCC compliance.
